Abstract EN

In recent years orthogonal frequency division Multiplexing (OFDM) and a new multiple access scheme called interleave-division multiple access (IDMA) systems gained considerable attention due to their uses in high speed wireless communication.

Both OFDM and IDMA have distinguishing features, for example, the first is near absolutely resistant to multipath fading effects, and the second has multi-user ability.

This paper provides a comparative study of different multiple access techniques, we present the performance of orthogonal frequency-division multiple access (OFDMA) and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing - interleave division multiple access (OFDM-IDMA), which is a combination of OFDM and IDMA.

The basic principle of two different schemes is investigated.

Furthermore, the performance of OFDMA is compared with that of OFDM-IDMA with an identical transmission rate and in multipath environment.

The effect of parameters such as the number of paths on the multiuser detector and the number of users cancelled are analyzed.

The obtained simulation results demonstrate that the proposed OFDMIDMA scheme provides a competitive alternative to the conventional OFDMA scheme for future high-rate multiuser communications over multipath fading channels.
