English Abstract

The objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of different IBA concentrations and the collection date on rooting of two apple rootstocks which are MM 106 (easy to root) and M9 (difficult to root).

The results show that 2000ppm IBA and the 3rd date collection increase rooting percentage and roots numbers.

The root lengths for both rootstocks were increased in the 2nd collection date with l000 ppm of IBA.

Fresh and dry root weights were not affected by using different treatments when compared with control treatment.

Weight of fresh M9 shoots was enhanced by using 2000ppm and the second collection date.

For MM106 the 3rd collection date and IBA 2000ppm enhanced the weight of fresh shoots.

The dry weight of M9 shoots was increased by using 2000ppm of IBA and the 3rd collection date.

For MM 106 the dry weight of shoots was increased by using first collection date and 4000ppm of IBA.

1000 ppm of IBA and first collection date produced the highest mean in the shoot diameter per cutting in both rootstocks.

Results indicate that M9 and MM106 shoot lengths are better when l000 ppm and 2000ppm of IBA were used with the 3 and 2 collection date respectively, for MM 106 and M9 l000 ppm concentration of IBA and the 1st collection date produce better shoot diameter.

In the open field, rooting percentage for both rootstocks was increased by using 3rd collection date and 2000ppm of IBA.

The carbohydrate content of both root stocks cuttings gives an obvious (indication) for rooting.

The 3rd collection date gave the highest carbohydrates content for both rootstocks cuttings.

But the carbohydrate content of Ml 06 is much higher than M9.
