English Abstract

In this work, solid state reaction method was used to prepare barium hexaferrite doped with Sb (Antimony) at different concentrations.

The structure and the magnetic behavior of the prepared samples were investigated and compared with previously prepared pure barium ferrite samples (Ba Fe12 O19).

The XRD measurements for the concentrations x = 0.1 to x = 0.6 were compared with that for the pure sample (x = 0.0) ; and traces of phases, other than the hexaferrite phase were observed.

The intensities of XRD peaks of such traces was found to increase with the increase of Sb content in the sample It was found that the doping of barium ferrite with Sb leads to an increase in saturation magnetization at low concentrations of Sb (x ≤ 0.3), while the saturation magnetization decreases at higher concentration up to x = 0.6.

Also it was found that the doping of barium ferrite with Sb leads to a decrease in cluster formation in the samples, decrease in Curie temperature, and a decrease in the coercivity as a result of suppression of the anisotropy field.

These results were obtained from the hysteresis loop, the δM curves and the remanent curves.
