Abstract EN

This work deals with the application of nuclear analytical techniques for measuring radioactivity in milk and milk products consumed in Khartoum state and the evaluation of effective radiation dose for the population.

The measurements were accomplished using gamma-ray spectrometric systems equipped with either HPGe or NaI (Tl) detectors.

Potassium-40 (40 K) and cesium-137 (137 Cs) radionuclides were observed in most of the samples with concentrations range between 51-409 and 0-3.1 Bq / kg respectively.

The overall annual effective dose from 40K and 137 Cs was calculated and estimated to be ranged between 0.01 and 0.5 mSv.
