Abstract EN

Considering the many problems that the constructional sector in Iraq suffers from, especially in management and quality, have lead to adopt the idea of quality management system implementation.

This system is the ISO 9000.

This lead us to carry out a field study on a sample from various constructional sectors, to diagnose weak points and enhance stronger ones.

This research has an objective of implementing the ISO 2008:9001 and studies its effect in the engineering affairs division at the University of Babylon.

The theoretical side of the research included previous studies and the scope of quality management and international standards.

The practical side of the research conducted in the division included personal interviews with a number of the staff.

The testing lists available in the division were used to evaluate the current activities and comparing them with the elements of the ISO 2008:9001.

This enabled us to find strong and weak points in division and measure the gap between current activities and requirements of the ISO.

According to the findings, many conclusions and suggestions with the aim to evaluate the present situation and the way to change it in accordance with international standards.
