Abstract EN

This study aimed at evaluating the fifth Grade Palestinian Science textbook in Jenin City from teachers perspective.

The sample of this study consist of 45 teachers from a total population of 106 male and female teachers.

The study employed the questionnaire as a tool for gathering data.

Frequency distribution, percentage, mean, mean average, and the analysis of variance has been utilized for the interpretation of collected data.

The most important findings of the study indicated teachers are on a reasonable degree of expertise as they are capable of deriving the educational goals in a way that achieve the content of science textbook, and the ability of teachers to diagnose the strengths and weaknesses of the textbook, as well as the understanding and awareness of teachers of the importance of teaching aids as a tool to facilitate and deliver information and deepen students understanding'.

However the study showed the lack of involvement of teachers to develop proposals and recommendations in the development of science textbook content.

One of the most important recommendations that emerged from the study was interested professionals and decision makers in the Department of the Palestinian Curriculum should create alignment between the content of the Science textbook Fifth Grade, and quotas (lectures) allocated to teach the textbook, as well as integrating two lectures a week for practical experience and laboratory.
