Abstract EN
The present study aimed to investigate the effects of aquaculture law number 124 for 1983 on Ismailia canal and drainage water sources on the reproductive performance of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus).
This work was applied in two private fish farms, first farm was irrigated from Ismailia canal and the second was irrigated from drainage water in Sharkia, Egypt.
The fish was classified into, treatment 1 (T1) (2 male plus 4 females in canal water source), treatment 2 (T2) (3 males plus 6 females in canal water source), treatment 3 (T3) (2 male plus 4 females in drainage water source) and treatment 4 (T4) (3 males plus 6 females in drainage water source).
Females in each hapa were checked for eggs every day.
Brooding females were netted and the eggs were gently removed from their mouths.
The females were weighed and returned to their hapas.
The collected eggs were counted and spawning dates were recorded to determine, total number of eggs per hapa, average absolute fecundity, average number of eggs per spawn, average number of spawning per female.
All measured data in this work noticed treatment 1 was the best treatment for all spawning parameters.
