English Abstract
The present study was conducted to determined the difference between the abomasums and cecum nematodes which infect sheep and goat, included study vital activity of nematodes after isolated from Abomasum, study the grossly and microscopically changes in the abomasums and cecum of sheep and goat due to infection with nematodes , also included of determine the amount of protein contained in nematodes by electrophoresis.
And finally we studied possibility preparing antigens from isolated nematodes and tested by using laboratory animals (mice Balb / c).
This study extends from November 2010 to May 2011, a total of 770, 201 and 150, 100 of abomasums and cecum of sheep and goats respectively, were collected from slaughterhouse in Basrah Province.
The first part of study included the examination of abomasums and cecum of sheep and goat and determined of parasites there .
four different nematodes were recorded in abomasums : Parabronema skarjabini, Haemonchus contortus, Trichostrongylus spp and Ostrtagia circumcincta.
From 66 and 21 infected abomasums of sheep and goats, respectively, nematodes which infect the sheep are similar that infect goats, but the difference in percentage which are 3.71 % , 1.66 % , 1.28 % and last 0.75 % ,respectively , in sheep .But in goats are , 4.91 %, 3.82 %, 2.73 %, and 1.63 %.
while, there is no infection was recorded in cecum. The second part of study included the observation of the activity of isolated nematodes development of egg and larva formation.
The third part of present study included the gross and pathological changes in infected abomasums, the gross changes are congestion , thickening of mucosa , hemorrhagic foci and edema, the microscopic changes included degeneration , increase inflammatory cell in three parts of abomasums (pyloric , foundic and mucosa layer), and erosion and hyper atrophy of mucosa .
The forth part of study associated with Electrophoresis of isolated nematodes and recorded the parasite parabronema skarjabini is the most nematodes which are containing protein. The last part of study is a possibility of the preparation of antigen which has been prepared from isolated parasite and were injected subcutaneously under the shoulder of mice and absorbed formation of immunity reaction in the site of injection, also change in blood picture has occurred .
