تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى بحث الفروق الجنسية في العلاقة بين تقدير الجسم و الاكتئاب و المخاوف الاجتماعية و تقدير الذات و ذلك عند طلبة الجامعة.
و تكونت عينة الدراسة من 487 من طلبة الجامعة 159) ذكرا و 337 أنثى) و استخدمت أربعة مقاييس لقياس تقدير الجسم و الاكتئاب و المخاوف الاجتماعية و تقدير الذات.
و أشارت نتائج الدراسة إلى أنه لا يوجد فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين الجنسين في تقدير الجسم و تقدير الذات.
إلا أن درجات الإناث في مقياس الاكتئاب و المخاوف الاجتماعية كانت أعلى من درجات الذكور و بدلالة إحصائية.
كذلك أشارت النتائج إلى وجود ارتباط دال إحصائيا عند الجنسين بين تقدير الجسم و كل من الاكتئاب و تقدير الذات و كان الارتباط ضعيفا عند الإناث، كما كان ارتباطا دالا إحصائيا بين تقدير الذات و كل من المخاوف الاجتماعية و الاكتئاب حيث أظهر الذكور معامل ارتباط أكبر و أخيرا أشارت النتائج إلى وجود ارتباط دال إحصائيا بين الاكتئاب و تقدير الجسم عند الجنسين حيث أظهرت الإناث معامل ارتباط أكبر.
و لقد تمت مناقشة النتائج في ضوء ما توافر من دراسات من ثقافات مختلفة.
Abstract EN
This study aims to investigate sex differences and the relationship between body esteem, depression, social phobia and self-esteem among college students.
The sample consisted of 487 (159 male and 337 female) university students.
Four scales were used to measure body esteem, social phobia, depression and self-esteem.
The results showed no significant differences between the two sexes in body esteem and self-esteem.
However, the females' scores were significantly higher than the male' scores in social phobia and depression.
The results showed significant correlation in both sexes between body esteem and depression and self-esteem, although it is weak for the females, and significant correlation between social phobia, depression and self-esteem with males showed stronger correlation.
Finally, the results showed significant correlation between depression and self-esteem with females showed stronger correlation.
The results were discussed in relation to available results from other cultures.
