Synthesisand spectral studies of new schiff base pyrimidine-2-ylimino-acetic acid and its complexes with cobalt (II)‎, nickel (II)‎, copper (II)‎, cadmium (II)‎, mercucry (II)‎ and lead (II)‎ ions

Abstract EN

Pyrimidine-2-ylamine condens with glyoxylic acid gave pyrimidine-2-ylimino-acetic acid (L) and characterized by elemental analysis (C.H.N), FT-IR and 1H, 13C-NMR.

The ligand (L) reacted with metal ions (II) ; Co, Ni, Cu, Cd, Hg and Pb forming complexes.

These complexes were identified by metal analysis (A.A.), FT-IR spectral, conductivity, magnetic susceptibility measurements and UV-visible spectral.

The Co (II), Cd (II), Hg (II) and Pb (II) ions in each complexes are tetra coordinated in a tetrahedral geometry.

The Ni (II), and Cu (II) ions are hexa coordinated in a octahedral geometry.
