Abstract AR
Abstract EN
Black carp (Mylopharyngodon picens) in Egypt still under study and this is the first record regarding bacterial diseases among such fish.
Random collections of black carp from El-Khashaa Fish Hatchery, Egypt were collected.
The clinical signs and postmortem findings of diseased fish showed hemorrhages at different parts of fish body surface, ulcers and septicemic lesions in the internal organs with yellowish liver.
The total prevalence of bacterial infection in the examined fish was 41 %.
The most suspected isolated bacteria were identified as motile Aeromonas species (Aeromonas sobria, A.
hydrophila, A.
veronii and A.
jandaei).
The high-est prevalence of motile Aeromonas infection was in summer and spring seasons (85 %).
A.
sobria was the highest prevailing among other motile Aeromonas species and it was pathogenic to black carp experimentally, as it has cytolytic aerolysin gene.
A.
sobria was sensitive to Ciproflox-acin and Trimethoprim + Sulpher.
Besides, live yeast supplemented diet showed successful resistance to black carp against A.
sobria.
