English Abstract

Many approximate stratification methods have been proposed.

Researchers constructed strata based on certain rules, which do not necessarily reflect the aims for stratification problem. In this thesis, we suggest a new approximate method for obtaining the minimum variance of the stratified sample mean ysl under bivariate stratification, namely cum f «m+i.

We assume that there is a bivariate linear relationship between the study variable Y and the two stratifying variables X and Z. We also present a comparison between the suggested method and other bivariate stratification methods using some probability distributions for the two stratifying variables X and Z.
