English Abstract
A new series of 4-nitroimidazole derivatives bearing substituted piperazines (61 a-1) were synthesized via Suzuki-Coupling between 4-(4-bromo-phenyl)-l-(l-Benzyl-2-ethyl-4-nitro-lH-imidazol-5-yl)-piperazine (58) which was used as starting material for the synthesis of our targets molecules, and the appropriate moronic acid.
The prepared compounds were separated, purified, and their structures confirmed by mean of H-NMR, ’3C-NMR, LC-mass spectrometry and elemental analysis (H, c, N).
The in vitro anti-HIV-1 (strain Ilia) anti-HIV-2 (strain ROD) activities of the synthesized compounds in human T-lymphocyte were tested, compound (61 k) displayed ability to inhibit HIV-1 and HIV-2 replication in cell culture.
These results suggest that compound (61 k) should be considered as a new lead in the development of antiviral agents.
The present work describes the synthesis and biological evaluation which led to the identification of new class of imidazoles as HIV inhibitors.
