The significant highest survival percentage of Cupressus macrocarpa Hartw.

explants after surface sterilization was obtained by using mercuric chloride (MC) for 6 min.

However, MC for 6 or 8 min resulted significantly in the highest survival percentage of Conocarpus erectus L.

explants.

The lowest significant contamination of Cupressus macrocarpa explants was obtained by using MC for 6 or 8 min.

In the meantime, the best agent used to sterilize Conocarpus erectus explants was MC for 8 min.

as contamination percentage was nil.

Death percentage of Cupressus macrocarpa explants was reduced to nil by applying either 8-hydroxyquinoline sulfate (HQS) at 0.25%, MC for 4 min or MC for 6 min.

Conocarpus erectus explants treated with clorox (sodium hypochlorite), HQS at 0.25% and MC for 4 min.

did not undergo death at all.
