Abstract EN

Twenty soil profiles representing all the taxonomic units of the Fayoum Depression soils were chosen to perform a land evaluation map according to Sys and Verheye (1978) method.

The relationship between the classes of land evaluation and their taxonomic units was also studied.

The study showed that most of the taxonomic units in Fayoum Depression were evaluated as classes of highly suitable (S1) and moderately suitable (S2).

The limitations for classifying class (S2) to subclasses were wetness, soil texture and high soluble salts, and alkalinity.

Typic Haplotorrerts included highly suitable class (S1), Typic Torrifluvents included both highly the suitable class (S1) and moderately suitable class (S2).

Typic Gypsitorrerts and Typic Calcigypsids included the marginally class (S3).

Gypsic Aquisalids were not suitable class (N1).
