Abstract EN
This paper focuses on the megalomaniac characters in Joe Orton's plays.
These megalomaniacs control and compel their victims in a variety of ways.
They may use verbal, physical, and / or psychological abuse to serve their purpose, be it to give them a sense of strength or power, compensate for loss or frustration, or merely to satisfy a sick desire inside themselves.
It analyzes two of Joe Orton's plays, The Ruffian on the Stair and The Good and Faithful Servant, as these two plays best implement the abuse traced in almost all of the megalomaniacs portrayed in Orton's plays.
