Purpose: is to study the clinical profile of primary open angle glaucoma.
Patients and Method: a randomized retrospective study of 10000 patients were attending out patient clinic in al-Furat and al Sader teaching hospitals from January 2004 to January 2008 , where every patient older than 40 years examined primarily by goldman tonometry and fundoscopy and then followed by anterior and posterior examination .
results : 1% is the prevalence of POAG with 35% of patients has advanced glaucoma at presentation , with earlier and more asymmetrical fashion .conclusion: early presentation and high percentage of advanced glaucoma need big effort from society and ophthalmologist to prevent blindness in Iraq.
