English Abstract

Road accidents in Egypt has become one of the crucial problems that the Egyptian society is encountering since the early 1980’s.

The decisive contributing factor is the unmitigated growing rate of population.

Another factors is the steady rise in the volume of daily activities.

The latter impels an average Egyptians to own a car for his needs.

Economic and social variables provide momentum to such needs.

Egyptians authorities, on their part, are deficient to provide needed medical facilities to accident victims.

In addition, medical costs are higher.

States budget, on roads construction and improvement, is about 30%.

The number of road accidents are on constant rise.

In the year 2003, for instance, the total count of such accidents reached to 29111.

Out of this total, 6766 victims lost their lives.

The injured were 29658.

Among the dead, most of the victims were youth.

Their ages ranged between 17 - 45.

This consideration will reflect that the problem is gaining magnitude.

One conclusion is, however, inescapable.

The steady rise of car accidents is the outcome of the adverse impact stemming from population growth.

The present research represents a modest endeavor to demonstrate internal structure on accidents.

Included in the presentation is the identification of causes and growth of such accidents.

Also, it tends to explain variations in geographical distribution in various Egyptian provinces as another determinant.

Last but not the least, it will shed light on the identification of accidents sites and the black spots that characterize repetitions of such accidents.

The study, in its conclusive section, incorporates constructive recommendations and explanations.
