روابط الجمل هو مصطلح يشير إلى مجموعة علاقات منطقية تقع بين الجمل و أشباه الجمل المتسقة حيث نتمكن من معرفة معنى الجملة أو شبه الجملة في ضوء أشباه الجمل المتجاورة.
أن مواصفات هذه الروابط المعنوية هي أنها تظهر نظام التنبوء بالمضمون في أية جملة من المضمون التالي.
أما نظرية الإقناع فهي فعل رمزي يقوم به فرد أو مجموعة أفراد.
أنها عملية توجيه الناس تجاه تبني فكرة ما أو سلوك ما أو فعل ما بواسطة استعمال أساليب عقلانية.
أنها تقوم على أساس "مناشدة" أو "التماس" أكثر منها استعمال القوة.
هاتان الطريتان استعملتا في هذا البحث كأداة لتحليل خطب "بوش" الرئيس الأمريكي التي وجهها إلى كل العالم و خصوصا الشعب الأمريكي بنية حثه على الموافقة على شن الحرب على العراق بحجة امتلاكه لأسلحة الدمار الشامل و التي تشكل، حسب اعتقاده، كمصدر تهديد مفجع للعالم.
