Development of a model to evaluate the cost of quality in the construction industry

In an increasingly global and competitive environment, an organization's long-term survival may depend on improved competitiveness.

The construction firms have to achieve lower construction costs, better quality, greater customer satisfaction, a higher market share to be able to compete successfully.

Quality improvement program should be designed to minimize the total cost of quality in order to achieve the required level of quality with lower operation cost, this could be achieved by eliminating or reducing the non-conformance quality cost in the construction projects.

The main objective of this paper is to develop a quality cost measurement system in construction industry.

The quality cost system is a valuable tool to provide a sufficient basis for taking action by identifying the areas and sizes of quality problems, evaluating the opportunities for quality improvement and enabling the organization to identify and eliminate nonconformance quality cost.
