Abstract AR
Abstract EN
Undoubtedly, wars, weather ended by victory or by defeat, cause a sense of disgust and depression.
After the Second World War, postwar generation of English writers did not miss the opportunity to raise their voices against wars.
Accordingly, most of the literary works, during this space of time, were molded in a way to reflect this sense of disgust.
Amongst those is William Golding (١٩١١-١٩٩٣), who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in ١٩٨٣.
Being a soldier during this War, Golding witnessed the catastrophe on a large scale.
After the war he returns to writing and makes from literature his field where he sows words of warning and reminding of the calamities, and of what wars might leave of suffering on humanity, especially on children.
In his Lord of the Flies he molds his anti-war attitude.
In it he focuses on the destructive effects of wars on children, particularly on the part that deals with the confiscation of their childhood which, in turn, leads to the creation of an aggressive and psychologically disturbant generation – a generation that grows before its normal time, a generation bewildered between two worlds – the world of childhood (which is confiscated earlier from them); and that of the adults (a world where they do not belong).
