Abstract EN

The excavation of the university of Mosul expedition to rescue the remained Tell Slal and Tell Dhuwayyich near the old twor of Zimmar.

The excavations lasted three successive seasons in 1982 and 1983 and yielded many important pottery that resemble Nineveh 5 pottery on wosob.

The upper three stratum contains Islamic remains.

Owing to the fact that Tell Zimmar is a very large tell, the excavations were carried out on two main points: the north-western and north-eastern corners.

Moreover, the expedition uncovered the remains of the outer wall of the main building that was built on the third stratum.

One main gate and two secondary gates were uncovered.

15 stratum were distinguished at the north-eastern corner the last three of wish contains Nineveh 5 pottery.
