Abstract EN

The General Police Directorate of Iraq pursues conventional evaluation approach towards its professional domain.

Each year, it organizes a Conference.

The latter is attended by the Minister of Interior ; ranking government officials; police directors of various provinces ; and select officials associated with select state security organs.

The evaluation approach involves reliance on indicators self-performance; and objective-oriented action constraints.

These indicators tend to facilitate comparative process and the task of comprehensive assessment.

In the context of the total standardized scores that a police directorate secures are organized the relative standing of various police directorates.

A directorate, securing high good scores, is honoured for its best performance.

Conversely, a directorate attaining predominant negative scores is castigated for its deficiencies in rendering its professional duties.

The present study is undertaken by two researchers in joint endeavour.

In its conclusive section, it incorporates constructive recommendations that tend to suggest a refined approach on evaluation assuring twin characteristics of reliability and objectivity.
