Abstract EN

This paper aimes to shed light on the history of Zoora (Ghores-Safi) in southeast of the Dead Sea during the Byzantine period.

Zoora is one of the most significant historical and archaeological sites in southern Jordan during this period.

The paper focuses on the mentioning of Zoora in the ancient documents, Byzantine sources and writings of European travelers who visited the site during 19th -20th centuries, as well as the history of archaeological investigation and human settlement depending on the historical sources and archaeological excavation reports at the site.
