Abstract EN

It was studied the inhibitory effect of different parts of metha specita L.(drive leaves, fresh leaves , stems and flowers) which are extracted by boiling water and as a sulury against pathogenic gram negative bacteria (Salmonella spp., Proteus spp., Pseudomonas aernginosa) and the pathogenic gram positive bacteria (Streptococcus spp., Enterococcus spp., Staphlococcus epidernidis).

the result related that dried leaves have the ability to inhibit all the bacteria species, where the inhibitory diameter was between 20-22 mm as compared with other part of plant which is showed fluctuated results in their inhibitory abilities.

the inhibitory ability was increased with the increasing of concentration of extract .some of active compounds were detected which represent the inhibitory effect, these are compounds comprise tanins, saponins, flavonoid and volatile oils.
