Abstract AR

Abstract EN

The generality of the tooth model of Raoof and his associates, as regards its predictions of the lower/upper bound premature plate peeling loads in steel-plated R.C.

beams, has already been verified by reporting the very encouraging comparisons between its predictions and some very wide ranging and extensive test data as reported by others, with its predictions of the lower bound peeling loads convincingly shown to provide safe solutions in all cases.

In the present paper, much attention is devoted to further verifying (by using extensive test data) the validity of certain other key parameters in the tooth model, such as the relationships used for estimating the ultimate bond strength between externally bonded steel plates and concrete, and the effective length of steel plates in plated R.C.

beams, as well as the formulae used for predicting the size of the minimum and maximum stabilized crack spacings in the concrete cover, with these parameters playing a central role in the estimations of the lower/upper bound plate peeling loads.
