Abstract EN

The study aimed to investigate the degree of encouraging pupils of the Lower Elementary Stage at UNRWA schools by social studies teachers in Jordan to practice active learning from their perspectives.

The study sample consisted of (370) teachers of social studies at UNRWA schools in Jordan; (179) male tcachcrs comprising (48.4 %) and (191) female teachers comprising (51.6%) of the study sample.

A survey questionnaire consisting of (35) items was de- signed to measure the teachers' practice degree of involving pupils in active learning.

The reliability and validity of the survey items were checked.

Research results showed that the average estimation degree of the social studies teachers’ practice of involving pupils in active learn- ings was generally high amounting (3.85) comprising (77%).

Results also showed that (16) items of the survey questionnaire revealed very high degree of tcachcr encourage- ment, (13) items revealed high de- gree of encouragement, while (4) items revealed moderate degree of encouragement, (2) items revealed low degree of encouragement.

Find- ing of the study revealed that there were no statistically significant dif- ferences between the social studies teachers’ practice degree of involv- ing their pupils in activc learning at- tributed to the gender variable, mar- ital status, and teaching experience.
