Abstract AR
Abstract EN
This article reports a study that was carried out to evaluate the metal dusting performance of three heat-resistant alloys, namely KHR35C HiSi©, KHR45A LC©, and UCX©.
The alloys were exposed to a gas mixture containing 80 vol% CO+20 vol% H2 and flowing at 100cm3 min-1 at 650, 750, and 850ºC for 1000h.
The alloys were characterized using visual inspection, XRD, and SEM/EDX.
KHR35C HiSi© suffered localized attacks at the three temperatures but to varying extents and in different shapes.
The corrosion became less aggressive as the temperature was increased.
Pitting also occurred on KHR45A LC© after 650ºC but to a lesser degree compared to KHR35C HiSi©.
A few pits were also observed on KHR45A LC© exposed at 750ºC with the least amount occurring after 850ºC.
Although it did not show complete immunity, UCX© proved to be the most resistant to metal dusting at the test temperatures.
The processes by which the corrosion took place are also discussed.
