Get ready to mobile learning : examining factors affecting college students' behavioral intentions to USE m-learning in Saudi Arabia

Mobile learning is a new innovation in the educational technology environment which has received a great deal of attention over the last few years.

This paper aims at examining the main factors affecting the adoption intention of Mobile Learning (M-Learning) on the basis of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) given the significance and power of such a theory in the field of Information Systems (IS).

To this end, this paper follows a quantitative approach in which a survey questionnaire was developed and utilized as the main instrument for data collection.

The questionnaire was distributed to a random sample of 300 undergraduate and postgraduate students in Saudi Arabia and 215 valid questionnaires were received.

The results of this research show that Performance Expectancy is the main factor affecting students’ adoption intention to use M-Learning in the future.

This is followed by Effort Expectancy and Social Influences factors respectively.

Nonetheless, the results also show that Facilitating Conditions has no significant effect on the intention to use MLearning.

Further, the findings show that the developed model explains 62.4% of the variance in the adoption intention to use M-Learning.

The results of this study are considered fruitful for decision makers in higher education as they reveal important aspects that decision makers need to carefully deliberate when implementing M-Learning solutions.
