Abstract EN

Depending on measurements of height and weight derived from 2900 children ( 1323 boys.

1577 girls) ranging from 1-13 years of age.

collected randomly from different sectors of Baghdad.

The results showed that boys were significantly heavier than girls in the first years of life however girls pick up at age of 10 and later, they become even heavier at age of 13.

Height measurement revealed that boys arc taller than girls except at age of 13 were hoys arc shorter than girls.

Comparing our results obtained in 1999 with growth charts for normal children in Baghdad in 1990.

our results showed statistically significant lower weight and height in both boys and girls from 1-13 years of age.

This reflects significantly the effect of prolonged sanction on children growth
