English Abstract

The area of study lies between latitude 11 and 14 degree north and longitudes 33°C and 35°C east extending between Eldaim record Station south and Sennar Dam north. It is divided in two distinct areas, the first is from Eldaim up to Roseires Dam and the second is between Roesires and Sennar Dams.

The area of study is mostly of clay nature soil covered with foresty trees at Eldaim passing through savannah climate around Roseires reaching to semi-desert around Sennar. Eldaim record station is consider the most important station for reading the levels and inflows of water coming through the Blue Nile, but it is still using the old techniques. The second distinct area lying between the two dams, operate as one unit for supplying water to Gezira and Managil canals. To achieve the above goal water balance is conducted after every flood season to compute the real inflow for the two dams. It was observed that through the compression of the daily and annual water balance between the inflows of Roseires and Sennar during the flood season that the inflow to Sennar is a bit larger due to many streams and vallies supplying the Blue Nile between the two dams added to the non computed rains. When the level of the Nile drops during dry season, the inflows the inflows of both Roseires and Sennar Dams tend to be equal. This could also be and indication to the recharge from the ground water to the Blue Nile. A set of equation that relate released discharges ,reservoir water and gate opening for Deep Sluices and spillway for Roseires and Sennar Dams have established instead of graphs to ease calculation procedures for the operation Roseires and Sennar Dams
