English Abstract

The compressor is considered the heart of compression refrigeration system,and it is the most important part in the cooling instruments, The industry of cooling and aircoditioning instruments can not expand and delvelop unless the develo-pment of compressor industry.

Centrifugal compressor is a machine with displacement which is not positive used in refrigeration with displacement capacity wich reach to 2000 Btu, they are tow kinds closed and open, the closed kind represent the majority in use recently (now) because it capacity is within usual range.

And used in refrigerant liquid units (chiller) in airconditioning units, which has high speed reach to 3600r.p.m, thus big volume of steam can be compressed in small compressor.

The compressor with which research dealt is centrifugal compressor of closed kind, single, the refrigerant used is Freon 12.

Because of the importance of this machine in the cooling instrument, we should find amodern and developed maintenance method.

In order to control the performance of the compressor in agood way and conteniously guaranty performance of the compressor without stoppage then long live operating for compressor.

The researcher found that the maintenance with condition monitiring or which is called predictive mantenance based on vibration analysis, it the best method to detect and diagnose the failures in centrifugal compressor If the problems were detected early when the small failures or uneffective on safely operating for compressor.

Condition of the machinery such as vibration , bearing temperature , pressure, oil condition and machine performance which allows the deter evaluation of whither that the machine is in good or bad condition.

If the mechanical condition is poor (compard to a refrence or standard condition) the condition monitoring permits also investigation of the causes of the problem.

The establishing and development they styles (predictive maintenance) is due to large improvement which the electronic equipments has witnessed and to the enternace of the computer and its application in the field of the condition monitoring and to the analysis of the data quick and high delicte and librarical experience with passage of the time.

The research contain four chapters , the first chapter included literature review for the research and the principles and the basic understanding for centrifugal compressor which important in calculating coefficient of performance (c.o.p), and it also includs wide information about centrifugal refrigeration compressor according its operating , structurs , method of operation and controls.

The second chapter is specified in compressor maintenance and the most impotant ways for maintenance , it a focused on the vibration based on vibration analysis of machine.

The third chapter is specified for knowing the modern vibration analysis instrument like (vibration measurement instrument , data collector, analyzer and mounting method vibration pickup indetail.

In the fourth chapter centrifugal compressor ( study case ) was offerd using in central cooling system in Al-fateh tower (Tripoli) and it is the ( practical side ) for research and SKF analyzer instrument (SKF CMXA50) used in monitoring and diagnose (analysis) vibration signals of centrifugal compressor to detect early the failure of compressor befor complete damaged, thus it saved as time and mony (cost) and this the sound strategy on which the modren foundation of maintenance was built.

This scientific and practical theme was introduced in a simple, easy so it canbe clear proof for engineers who are biginners in this specialization.

The reseacher faced alot of difficulties , for example the Arab library in my city dose not contain the predictive maintenance and vibration analysis books and vibration analysis instrument for this reason the research was written in English.

Hoping that I succeded in my research.
