English Abstract
The main objective of this study is to investigate the role of GIS in urban landscaping particularly to scout and Bick out the green cover among the urbanalization areas.
To achieve these 0bjectives Khartoum locality was selected as study area.
The geographic features in the study area have been modelled and digitized based on cadastral maps offered by Sudan National Authority Arc GIS 9 3 was used to build dynamic digital GIS model of study area.
Based on the needs 0f urban landscaping the model was subjected to various spatial and statistical analyses.
This include site investigation and selection to bick out green areas in the study area The study shows that GIS is powerful tool for models, analyzing and supporting decision making in urban landscaping as tested this was found to be GIS functionality was sufficient enough in extracting green areas how the general urban landscape in the study area.
