English Abstract
-The bark of Rumexvesicarius was extracted with 95% ethanol at room temperature.
Qualitative tests on the ethanolic extract were positive for flavoniod, Fractionation of the alcoholic extract over silica gel using methanol : chloroform : petroleumether (2:2:1) gave compound I. The structure of compound I was deduced on the basis of its IR, UV, MS, and NMR spectra . The ethanolic extract and compound I were screened for their antibacterial potential against four standard organisms and promising results were obtained.
