English Abstract
-This research tackles the problem of the failure of many water pumps schemes due to the bad choice or negligence of maintenance and operation works.
The research is an attempt for finding the required solutions for those problems, by the good, safe and correct choosing of the drinking water pumps, for avoidance of any economic harms that may result.
Taking into account that the purchase prices of these pumps become very high, in additional to what that bad choice leads to break down of the utility and water services, which is necessary for the human life. The project of El Naya Booster pump is taken as case study.
The study showed that the project constructed to collect water from the boreholes around the area into reservoir and pumped the water from reservoir to the distribution network.
The water pumps distribution for the project is selected for the application of all factors for the choice of suitable pump for the scheme, which includes the study of the site and the analysis for the control of the defects.
The application for the choice of suitable pump was carried out (done) on the performance curve of multi choices of Q.V.C.
pumps curves.
The results obtained are: • The required pump capacity is significant so as to match with the required water quantity. • The pump pressure is significant. • The material from which the pump is made is significant so as to resist the decay, temperature, and match with the water nature pumped by the pump. • From the most important recommendations are • Complete analysis to the water which shall be pumped before the choice of the pump. • The pump shall be chosen on the results of the water analysis. • The use of a computer program for the best selection of the pumps.
