English Abstract
A central objective of this study is the development a Flood Risk Map for the purposes of early warning system and to convey flood risk in spatial terms that permits the formulation of responses in order to reduce the risk floods The purpose of an early warning system is to provide information and warnings so that actions can be taken to protect lives and properties and reduce people’s suffering and economic losses caused by the event that people are being warned about.
The general approach used in this study could be divided into two Phases : phase one is the hydraulic approach.
The hydraulic part of the approach adopted in this study was Hydrologic Engineering and River Analysis System (HEC-RAS) Program.
This tool is known and used by professionals The study concentrates mainly on phase 2 (flood risk mapping and analysis) of the model using the output of phase 1(the hydraulic analysis) of the model as an input to Develop Flood Risk Maps in the study area The main recommendation of the study is to develop contingency plans based on the magnitude of the expected hazards in order to facilitate timely and coordinated decision-making process, generating early warning signals for various beneficiaries including local communities and taking appropriate actions to reduce flood risk.
