Abstract AR
Abstract EN
Jasminum sambac Ait plants treated three times with salicylic acid at 0.0, 50, 100, 200 and 400 ppm during 2009 and 2010 seasons to study the effect of salicylic acid at various concentrations on vegetative traits, flowering and some chemical components.
Results showed that foliar application of salicylic acid at 50 to 400 ppm caused a material promotion on plant height, number of leaves / plant, leaf area, total surface area per plant, flowering aspects namely number of flowers per plant and fresh weight of flowers per plant, some nutrients (N, P and K) and some plant pigments (chlorophyll a & b, carotenoids and total chlorophylls) relative to the check treatment.
However, average fresh weight of flower tended to decrease with salicylic treatments.
Negligible promotion was observed on all parameters with increasing concentration from 200 to 400 ppm.
The promotion was associated with increasing concentrations of salicylic acid.
For promoting yield components and nutritional compounds of Jasminum sambac Ait plants, it is recommended to treat the plants thrice with salicylic acid at 200 ppm.
