Abstract EN

A moderately effective vaccine and Directly Observed Therapy (DOT) could eliminate epidemic tuberculosis in the world, with drugs treating the infection and vaccines prevent¬ing initial infection and reactivation of latent infection.

The last twenty years of research on new tuberculosis vaccines has shown great potential for producing a prime booster vaccine that is safe in both immuno-competent and immuno-comp : omized individuals.

We anticipate that a new pre-exposure vaccine regimen will be licensed and available in 7-10 years and a new post-exposure vaccine to prevent reactivation will be possible in 10-12 years.
