English Abstract

The purpose of this research is mainly to create and develop an independent vocabulary learning among Libyan secondary school students by using certain strategies which must be directly connected with vocabulary learning and teaching. This research diagnoses the problem of learning and teaching the vocabulary to the students of Libyan secondary schools and prescribes the effective and fruitful therapy It emphasizes how important it is for learners of English vocabulary to have clear objectives and to use vocabulary learning strategies. This research includes the results obtained by means of questionnaires, general aims of the study, the strategies to be dealt with, techniques of teaching the strategic performance, the subjects to be involved and the duration of the study. Chapter One tackles an overview, the problem, purpose of the study, importance of the study, limitation of the study, tools of the research, and synopsis of the study.

Chapter Two is concerned with related literature, review etc.

Chapter Three tackles experimental studies (rationale of the problem), results, tools etc.

Chapter Four deals with discussion of the results of the questionnaires and the findings. Chapter Five is concerned with findings, Conclusion and recommendations. This research consists of Five Chapters and three appendices, (a Pilot study Questionnaire, an Opinion Seeking Questionnaire and Names of the Jury members).

The most crucial result of this study was that the students performed much better after than before the studying and applying of the vocabulary learning strategies as well as in every creative thinking ability namely flexibility, originality and fluency.
