At the orthodontic clinic in the college of Dentistry, University of Baghdad, 64 mouth breathing pretreated orthodontic patients were interviewed and subjected to a clinical examination in an attempt to find if mouth breathing habit is associated to tongue thrust and lip sucking habits.

An insignificant association was found between mouth breathing and tongue thrust and lip sucking habits, but a significant association was found between the frequencies of mouth breathing habit and the types of tongue thrust ,as well as a significant association was found between the frequencies of mouth breathing habit and the frequencies of lip sucking habits.
