The purpose of this article is to review writing product and process research using Arab EFL/ESL learners as subjects.

Studies of Arab EFL/ESL learners are analyzed, classified, and discussed.

Plausible explanations of the emerging results are provided,.

directions for future research are suggested, and implications for Arab EFL/ESL composition teaching are drawn.

To the best of the author's knowledge, no such an attempt to relate the findings of product and process research involving Arab EFL/ESL learners to the wider EFL/ESL writing research community has been made.
