تحوي المياه السعودية من الخليج العربي في منطقة الدمام ثلاث أنواع من أسماك الصافي (عائلة Siganidae) هي صافي عربي Siganus canaliculatus، صافي صغيرS.
spinus و صافي صنيفي S.javus، أهمها مع الصافي العربي، من حيث قيمته الاقتصادية المرتفعة و صفاته العديدة التي تجعله من الأسماك الفضلة لعمليات الاستزراع البحري و يليه الصافي الصغير.
تضمنت الدراسة الحالية قياس و مقارنة صنفين من الصفات الحيوقياسية هما : عمق الجسم و الطول القياسي لنوعي الصافي العربي و الصافي الصغير، و تم استنباط العادلات الرياضة التي تمثل العلاقة بين كل قياس منهما و الطول الكلي للسمكة، لبحث إمكانية التمييز بين الجنسين من الشكل الخارجي.
كما تم حساب معامل الحالة للنوع الأول، إذ ثبت أن أعلى قيمة سجلت في فصلي الربيع و الصيف بالمقارنة لفصلي الخريف و الشتاء.
و تم استنباط المعادلة الرياضية التي تمثل العلاقة بين وزن و طول الأسماك قيد البحث.
كما تمت دراسة الفحص النسيجي للمناسل (ذكور و إناث) و تحديد موسم التكاثر تمهيدا لإتمام عملية التفريخ الصناعي.
Abstract EN
Three species of rabbitfishes (F: Siganidae) are recorded in the Saudi Arabian Gulf waters near Dammam, of which Siganus canaliculatus (Safi Arabi) is the most common and commercially important.
Knowledge on two morphometric characters, namely: body depth and standard length of S.
canaliculatus and S.
spinus are given.
Condition factor, weight/length relationship and gonad development of the former species are thoroughly described, which could serve as a basis for the near future mariculture practices of the species in the area.
