English Abstract
Limitations on copyright protection are an essential part of copyright law for a multitude of institutions (educational, archives, and libraries) both public and private.
By way of these limitations, librarians have argued for the public’s right to use materials within the boundaries of protection.
As the Internet becomes a primary source of a lot of information, contemporary libraries frequently must deal with the reproduction and distribution of protected materials (print, audio-visual, or digital format).
The purpose of the study is to explore the conflict over fair use and exemptions for libraries and highlights important gaps in copyright law in Saudi Arabia.
This study uses a legal approach to explore similarities and differences between two legal models of fair use and exemptions ; first we will examine the US Model and then we will turn to the Saudi Arabian model.
This study highlights essential areas for librarians, policy makers, and copyright enforcement bodies.
