Arabic Abstract

تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى قياس التداخل بين قواعد البيانات الإلكترونية في مجال المكتبات و المعلومات، و تستخدم الدراسة خمسة قواعد بيانات هي ERIC و LISA و ISA و INSPEC و Library Literature، و يتم قياس نسبة التداخل بناء على مدى تغطيتهم لبعض الدوريات البؤرية في المجال، و ذلك من خلال أخذ عينة من التسجيلات و فحصها.

أوضحت النتائج أن هناك نسبة كبيرة من التداخل بين قواعد البيانات في تغطيتهم لعناوين الدوريات، و نسبة التداخل في المقالات المكشفة لكل دورية كانت كبيرة و تعدت 5% في معظم الحالات، و أكبر نسبة من التداخل كانت بين كل من ERIC و Library Literature و قواعد البيانات الأخرى.

English Abstract

This study aims to measure the overlap between electronic databases in the field of library and information science.

The databases to be used are ERIC, LISA, ISA, INSPEC, and Library Literature.

Then the percentage of overlap will be measured according to their coverage of some core periodicals in the field, by taking a sample of records and examining it.

Results indicate that there was a significant amount of overlap between the databases in journal titles coverage.

The percentage of overlap in the articles indexed for each journal was also significant; this percentage exceeded 25% in most cases.

The highest percentage of overlap was found in the ERIC and Library Literature and the other databases.
