English Abstract
This study aimed at verifying the effect of implementing educational technology in class room.
More specifically, the study aimed at investigating the effect of implementing educational technology on improving creative thinking skills of EFL-preparatory-year students at King Saud University while teaching Medical Terminology.
For that purpose, the researcher constructed : (a) a training program based on utilizing technology in class room and (b) a test of creative thinking.
To accomplish the study, a group of 40 students were randomly chosen from amongst the population of King Saud University students.
The sample was randomly chosen from the preparatory-year program.
Then, they were randomly assigned to two separated groups ; a control group and an experimental group.
Students of both groups were conducted a pre-test.
The experimental group students were taught Medical Terminology by the program using technology in class such as e-podium, smart board and internet facilities, while the control group students were taught by conventional way by using text books and the white board.
Both ways of teaching were conducted during second semester of the school year 2009-2010.
When the training ended, both study samples were post tested using the test of creative thinking, and scores were given according to students’ performance.
The results of the test were dealt with (SPSS) statistical program.
Findings of the study indicated that integrating educational technology into teaching had significant effect on improving students’ creative thinking skills.
Based on the results, the researcher recommended that : (a) all EFL teachers at various educational stages should be trained on how to make full use of modern technology in class room ; (b) curricula should be designed in the way that learners use their mental abilities and creative thinking skills to not only comprehend, analyse, and absorb knowledge but also to use it.
