Abstract EN
A workable mathematical model of finite element and linear programming for the management of unsteady flow ١١؛ aquifers has been presented in this paper.
The model combines, in itself, the potential of the finite element to represent the hydraulics of flow in the aquifer for complex ^metries and boundary conditions with the power of the linear programming technique for obtaining optimal decisions.
The model is applicable to deal with any objective fonction which is almost to acheive a system-wide maximum head distribution and maximize or minimize discharge from the wells.
The model also enables the determination of optimal allocation of wells, while satisfying the water production targets, lower bounds on hydraulic head at specified points, well capacity restrictions and well location.
Amicability of the model has been proved b>' solving a practical case in groundwater management.
