Abstract AR

Abstract EN
Tbermogravimetry (TG) and its derivative (DTG) were utilized to study the thermal stability of low density polyethylene (LDPE) which was exposed outdoor to weather for different ageing times up to 6 months before being tested. The thermal stability of the material is improved by preliminary exposure to weather and the decomposition temperature (Td) increases with ageing time.
The increased thermal stability of the material is consistent with cross-linking occurring during ageing.
The major weight loss ensues above 390 °C for as received conditions and above 43 5 °C for the aged samples.
