Abstract EN

The photodetachment cross-section of the atomic lithium anion, Li", is calculated for photon energies in the range 0.618-10.618eV using a screened hydrogenic model.

The model employs a hydrogen-like wave function for the single electron undergoing detachment with one adjustable parameter chosen to be the effective “screened” nuclear charge.

The behavior of the cross-section near its peak value shows that the optimum value of this parameter is 0.865 for a maximum cross-section of 149Mb.

The results show excellent agreement with Wigner threshold law for photon energies in the range 0.618-0,638eV,
