Abstract EN

The objective of this research is to contribute to the development of commercial banks credit service in the southern governorates in Jordan, and its effectiveness by recognizing the main problems that face credit service in the commercial banks.

To achieve this objective, a survey questionnaire was designed and distributed to all branches of commercial banks working in south of Jordan.

The response rate was (68%).

Descriptive statistic was employed to analyze the data of the study.

Averages, standard deviations, and t - test were obtained from the statistical analysis of the study.

Assumptions were set and analyzed.

The study reveals that the most important problems that face commercial banks in the aspect of extending loans to their clients are: - Low personal income levels in south of Jordan.

- Low degree and awareness of the clients of commercial banks - The weakness of credit policies in the commercial banks, - Humble clients' financial and marketing skills.

- Limited authorization to the branches' managers of commercial banks in south of Jordan.

- The weakness of the control and follow up systems of loans accounts.

The study is concluded by some suggestions to solve these above problems: - Commercial banks managers in south of Jordan should promote awareness among their clients.

- Developing and improving credit professionals in the commercial banks.

- Developing the credit control systems in the branches of commercial banks.

Reevaluation of credit terms based on rational credit standards in the commercial banks.
