شرش الزلوع (Ferula hormonis) هو نابت عشبي عطري بري حولي معمر و ينمو على شكل شجيرات خيمية.
ينمو هذا النبات في جبل حرمون (جبل الشيخ) في المنطقة الحدودية بين لبنان و سوريا، و يستخدم كما يشاع في الأوساط الشعبية لشفاء العجز الجنسي و البرودة الجنسية.
لقد تم إجراء هذا البحث لتحديد التأثيرات السلبية لهذا النبات على التراكيب النسيجية للقولون في الحيوانات الفأرية.
حقنت الحيوانات الفأرية بعمر ثلاثة أسابيع بالمستخلص الكحولي لهذا النبات و بجرعة (3) مليغرام يوميا و لمدة ستة أسابيع و قد أظهرت المقاطع النسيجية للخلايا الغدية المبطنة لجدار القولون أعراض الإصابة بالسرطان الغدي للطبقة المخاطية بالمقارنة مع المقاطع النسيجية للحيوانات الشاهدة أو الضابطة.

The cffcct of ad ministration of freshly prepared ethanolic cxctrac! oi'Feitiia iiornwnis to intact prepubertal male mice was studied on the histology of colon.
The itUragastric adminstration of 3mg / animal / day of this cxtract for six weeks resulted in colon adcnocarcinoma.
Most of the glandular lining cells show hypcichromalism.
